For some reason, the websites documenting the history of gay bathhouses seem to have fallen off the net. I don't know why. Lucky for us, the Internet Archive nabbed copies of sites such as Bathhouse Addict and Gaytubs, allowing us to learn about e.g. the linked Continental Baths which a centerpiece of gay culture from 1968-1976 in New York City. It's a remarkable piece of not just gay history – understanding the attitudes and norms of the club's day-to-day and how it survived hostile governments – but also as a part of the zeitgeist's pre-AIDS sexual liberation which was affecting all parts of American culture.
